A quote from a student in the current Yoga of Los Altos hosted Yogaworks Teacher Training:

"I'm very happy with the YogaWorks teacher training program. I've been in the fitness industry for over 25 years. I'm a certified pilates instructor as well. I find the information to be very well put together. The in-class instruction is well worth the time. The reading materials are to the point. The handbooks are excellent. I've looked a lot of programs and many of them are based on one yogi's interpretation. YogaWorks has the composite intrepretation of many of the great yogi's; they have systemmatically taken information and writings and consolidated it into a clear and clean methodology for teaching. It's very hands-on. I feel, only 1/2 through the program, that I'm ready to start teaching (at least at a beginner level). I would recommend this program 100%." - Angel

WHY I BELIEVE IN THE YOGAWORKS APPROACH TO TEACHER TRAINING - by Andi Bruno - owner of Yoga of Los Altos

I have taken a large number of teacher trainings since 1999 (ten in total - including the Yogaworks Teacher Training held at Yoga of Los Altos this past year). Over the years, I have studied the effectiveness of many - many - many teacher training programs. I have also had the privilege of working with a large number of extremely good yoga teachers.

The quality of yoga training programs varies significantly. The skills of new yoga teachers also vary significantly depending on which training programs these new teachers have taken. As a studio owner, it is obvious to me that the quality of the teacher training has a direct correlation to the quality of the teachers produced.

It is my personal goal that students participating in this Yogaworks program have an extremely positive experience. It is my sincere hope that students gain not only the technical skills but also a deep sense of freedom and creativity. We want this 200-hour Yogaworks training to be transformational for the students. I have personally found that to be the case. It is a superb Teacher Training program.

As a studio owner, it is also crucially important to me that students have access to extremely high quality training. It is also important for students to have a clear and consistent training path – 200 hours AND then an additional 300 hours --- the full path to 500 hours of Teacher Training.

If you are thinking about taking the training to deepen your yoga, you will be very pleased with the Yogaworks 200-hour Teacher Training.

If you want to eventually teach yoga, you will be getting the skills that you truly need to become a strong teacher, with a clear and available path to a full 500 hours of training.

I believe that the State of California will eventually ask for a full certification and licensing if someone wants to teach yoga. This certification requirement and licensing won’t happen tomorrow, but it will eventually happen. It is pretty clear that Yoga Alliance will be the dominate lobbying organization for this eventual certification process, compliance and licensing (or a similar type of organization). We want to make sure that all students who take Teacher Trainings here at Yoga of Los Altos are in full compliance with the Yoga Alliance qualifications. This Yogaworks training will enable students to most fully and completely be in compliance.

Students who take a Yogaworks training have the luxury of having their trainings recognized and highly valued, NOT ONLY HERE, but in a large number of cities in the United States and Internationally. Given the strong and positive reputation of the Yogaworks trainings, students have a much better chance of having their trainings valued, when they are trying to get their foot in the door to teach at a studio outside of the immediate area. This is a big deal as yoga's popularity grows and the demand for yoga teachers becomes that much more competitive.

Regarding the cost of the Yogaworks training, please compare apples to apples when comparing teacher training programs. With some schools of yoga - students take an Immersion followed by a Teacher Training. This two-step process approach typically costs $1,700 - $2,000 PER STEP (for each 100 hours of training). So, a full 200-hour teacher training costs $3,400 - $4,000 … if not more. The comparison of the pricing can get even more complicated, because the pricing for 100 hour immersion can be parsed into three sections per step at $600 - $800 per section (3 x $600 = $1,800 OR 3 x $800 = $2,400). Therefore, a 200-hour program parsed this way does end up costing $3,600 - $4,800, with the hope that all the sections will actually eventually be offered. Unfortunately, a majority of these other programs do not offer a full nor consistent path to the larger 500 hours of training. I do believe that 500 hour training will eventually will become mandatory here in California. Prepare for that eventuality.

So, if you are going to invest in yourself, make sure that the investment in a training that will truly give you a path to succeed. I believe that Yogaworks gives students that path. That is why Yoga of Los Altos is now offering Yogaworks Teacher Training. I know that it is a high quality offering and that it will serve the students that decide to take the training.

    Most sincerely,
