Tom Abrehamson
Tom teaches an Iyengar style of Yoga.
Tom has a BA from Princeton and a JD law degree and has studied Iyengar Yoga since the 1980s. He has taught over 4000 classes in the mid-peninsula area since 2000 and has taken hundreds of hours of teacher training with, among others, Manouso Manos, Aadil Palkhivala and Elise Miller.
Tom's classes are mixed-level classes that afford both beginners and more advanced students the opportunity to work at their own levels. His classes combine precise instruction with individualized attention and gentle humor. His students work hard, make progress and have fun.
Tom has taught at Yoga of Los Altos since its inception having had 18,000+ students in his classes over the last 5 years. Tom includes pranayama in his classes on a regular basis.

Lauren Anas
Lauren has been practicing yoga for 6 years, starting with Ashtanga yoga and now focusing on Vinyasa flow. Prior to practicing yoga, she studied ballet for 10 years and then found yoga to be a beautiful compliment. With an emphasis on breath and fluid movement Lauren’s yoga classes involve a combination of heat building sun salutations, strengthening postures, and balancing poses. Lauren’s classes are designed to provide an overall physical and spiritual experience with the intention of bringing a sense of peace. Lauren graduated from Avalon's yoga teacher-training program where she studied under John Berg.

Kelly Blaser
Kelly is an Anusara Inspired Instructor.
Kelly began studying Iyengar Yoga in 1989 and completed the Mount Madonna Teacher Training in 1997. She is grateful to her beloved teacher Kofi Busia for teaching her patience and faith. After establishing a deep base in Iyengar Yoga Kelly began to incorporate aspects of Vinyasa. For the past four years Kelly has been immersing herself in the study of Anusara Yoga. The perspective of Anusara has transfored her teaching, her own asana practice, and her psychotherapy practice.
Kelly provides ample personalized attention and adjustments, addressing the concerns of individuals while guiding the class in a deep and transformative practice.

Samantha Shakti Brown
Sam is a well known Anusara Inspired instructor. She has been a dedicated student of yoga for 21 years. Sam has a dynamic, precise & inspirational teaching style. Samantha has completed 12 different yoga teacher trainings. Her foundational trainings include: a multi-year internship in Rishikesh, India, Astanga, Vinyasa, Iyengar, & AcroYoga. Samantha was introduced to the empowering method of Anusara Yoga five years ago and has since made it her primary inspiration. She has dedicated thousands of hours to study directly with John Friend the founder of Anusara Yoga, and other senior Anusara teachers.

Andi Bruno
Andi thought it was high time for a yoga studio in Los Altos, so in August of 2003 she started Yoga of Los Altos.
Andi has been practicing yoga for more than 15 years, and started teaching yoga in 2000. She has also had a meditation practice for the last 20 years.
Andi teaches an eclectic style of yoga influenced her many wonderful teachers including Laura Foley, Sarah Powers, Paul Grilley, Jim & Ruthie Bernaert, and Ken Graham.
Andi obtained her first teaching certification in Yin Yoga from Sarah Powers and Paul Grilley in 2000. She also completed a 200-hour advanced Anusara teacher training course at the Yoga Kula in Berkeley in 2004. Andi competed another 200-hour teacher training with Ken Graham in early 2009.
Andi brings clear and precise instruction to each yoga pose. She also brings a fun tone into each and every class. Andi truly believes that yoga is to be enjoyed !

Suzanne Dong
Suzanne teaches Iyengar Yoga.
Suzanne is a graduate of the Iyengar Yoga Institute of San Francisco and has studied with Geeta & Prashant Iyengar, Ramanand Patel, Manouso Manos and Kofi Busia. Her love of yoga is infectious, challenging and energetic. Suzanne specializes in neck, shoulder and back challenges.

Darcy Elman
Darcy teaches an Anusara style of yoga.
Darcy recently moved here from Sonoma County. She has trained in Anusara Yoga with Sianna Sherman, Douglas Brooks, Noah Maze, and Carlos Pomeda at the Yoga Kula in Berkeley. For the past 25 years she has also been in private practice teaching The Alexander Technique, and Cranial Sacral Therapy. Darcy is also certified in Pilates. She has recently been awarded and honored as a senior teacher of the national Alexander organization AMSAT. She is published in Ground Works, Stories of Embodiment. Darcy now lives with her son and her new husband in Sunnyvale.

Marti Foster
Marti teaches Vinyasa Yoga. She also teaches Prenatal Yoga.
Marti has a strong foundation in human physiology, dance, and music. She learned early in life about the transformative powers of yoga. Her credentials include certification from Erich Schiffman, Baptiste Teacher Training, and the White Lotus Foundation. She has developed a powerful, eclectic style balancing a challenging asana practice with explorations of ancient meditation techniques and breathwork (pranayama). Carolyn Fox
Carolyn has been practicing yoga regularly since 1996 and teaching since 2000. She completed teacher certifications at White Lotus Foundation in Santa Barbara and with Todd Norian in East
Stockbridge, MA and is a registered yoga instructor (200 hour level). Her teaching combines alignment principles with the breath and mindful conscious movement in a vinyasa flow.
Carolyn's professional work as a nurse practitioner contributes to a broad knowledge of both western and eastern concepts of wellness. She has a passion for helping students to find a practice that will nourish their physical, mental and spiritual wholeness.

Chrissy Graham
Chrissy teaches Anusara Yoga.
Chrissy is a Certified Anusara Yoga Instructor. She started to practice yoga to heal her body. Chrissy was first introduced to Anusara Yoga through a chance encounter with Emily Dubin, also a Certified Anusara Yoga Instructor.
Chrissy went on to study directly with John Friend, Anusara Yoga’s creator. She has taken all of her teacher training directly with John, and has accumulated over 350 hrs with him.
Chrissy has also studied with a number of other highly skilled Anusara teachers. In addition to her studies with John, she has studied with fabulously skilled teachers, like Sianna Sherman, whom she now assists locally, and nationally, as well as Mitchell Bleier, and Amy Ippoliti. She has also spent many hours studying in the Philosophical traditions of Rajanaka, Tantra, with Dr. Douglas Brooks.
Chrissy presently teaches all over the Bay Area. Chrissy brings a dynamic, and supportive energy to her classes that blends philosophy,yoga therapeutics, and insightful wisdom, from her own life experiences.

Ken Graham
Ken teaches Anusara Yoga
Ken is a fully Certified Anusara Yoga teacher whose love of yoga began at a young age. Ken was introduced to Anusara Yoga in 1999 by his sister Chrissy, who also teaches here at Yoga of Los Altos. It was Anusara Yoga's heartfelt approach and depth that inspired Kenny to teach.
Ken has completed numerous immersions, teacher trainings and workshops studying under the best teachers in the Anusara tradition. Teachers include Noah Maze, Sue Elkind, Naime Jezzeny, Siannna Sherman, Desiree Rambaugh and Anusara's founder John Friend who Kenny still studies extensively with.
Ken teaches public classes, workshops and retreats worldwide. He has toured extensively with Sianna Sherman and John Friend in Europe and Central America. Ken’s passion is to help students discover their own potential and to unveil their treasures along the shores of consciousness.
Ken is considered to be one of the most luminary Anusara instructors in the San Francisco Bay Area. His broad knowledge of Anusara yoga is offered in the spirit of playfulness and connection through the voice of the Heart!

Osha Hanfling
Osha teaches Iyengar Yoga.
Osha has been teaching yoga in the Iyengar Tradition since 1984, having studied directly with the Iyengars in India. She is a very well known and respected Iyengar teacher. She currently teaches in San Francisco at the Abode of Iyengar Yoga and at Yoga of Los Altos on Thursdays at 11am.
Osha takes a personal approach with her students, meeting them at their level and inspiring them to deepen their practice. Osha sees yoga as a tool for transformation and inner freedom. She believes that through the process of the asana we harness the mind, wake the sleeping body, and begin to discover and generate awareness of our psycho-spiritual selves.

Jeff Lang
Jeff teaches Tune Up®
Completing Jill Miller’s Yoga Tune Up® teacher training gave Jeff the necessary knowledge for transforming the body in a systematic, accessible, and safe way. Using modern understanding and ancient techniques, Jeff’s classes provide a physical practice to heal and support mental clarity, emotional capability, and spiritual growth.
In addition, Jeff graduated the Avalon Yoga teacher-training program in 2006, training under mentor Ben Thomas. During the program he was influenced by the areas best teachers; Sam Matthews, Anirudh Shastri, and Kelly McGonigal. "I've gained a deep respect for the roots of classical Yoga and where this practice comes from, all the while seeking the modern understanding of how this practice can benefit us in our development and evolvement."

Lynn-Marie Murphy
Lynn-Marie teaches restorative yoga here at the studio. She has a background in both therapeutic and vinyasa yoga.
Lynn-Marie has combined her enthusiasm for healthy living and her passion for yoga by teaching. Lynn-Marie's focus on health grew out of her broad experience as a critical care RN at Stanford Hospital's Adult Cardio-Thoracic ICU.
She received her teaching certification through Joyce Anue's YES program. Lynn-Marie is also certified in Therapeutic Yoga through Cheri Clampett and has received her "Yoga of the Heart" certification through Nischala Joy Devi. The “Yoga of the Heart” certification is geared towards cardiac and cancer patients with emphasis on very gentle yoga postures, deep relaxation, visual imagery and meditation.

Amy Raichert
Amy is a certified yoga instructor and is registered as Anusara –Inspired through John Friend. She is a recent transplant from Arizona. She has been practicing yoga for 14 years with various styles including Iyengar, vinyasa, restorative and even Bikram. She came into Anusara around 4 years ago and has not turned back since.

Birgit Reimer
Birgit Reimer teaches Yoga in the Iyengar/Thomas lineage.
She is an excellent instructor having studied extensively with Benjamin Thomas.
Birgit teaches many public classes, ongoing workshops and monthly pranayama classes. She has deep foundations in Soto Zen meditation and Shotokan Karate, as a student and teacher.
She has been studying and practicing Qi Gong and T’ai Chi with Professor A.Tayam for many years.
Her classes are a well-balanced composition of sadhana(practice) which includes asana practice, pranayama, chants, meditation and philosophy. She focuses on precision, alignment, creating and maintaining space and balance and guides the students through the various aspects of YOGA.

Anirudh Shastri
Shastri teaches a Dynamic Vinyasa Flow
Anirudh Shastri is a well-known and highly respected hatha yoga teacher with an extensive background in yoga philosophy. He has been teaching yoga for more than 20 years, bringing his deep knowledge of the physical and spiritual aspects of yogic philosophy to his many students on the peninsula and in the South Bay.
Shastri trained in India and studied under the guidance of Shri Vishnu Prasadji.

Rebecca Snowball
Rebecca is an Anusara Inspired Instructor.
Rebecca Snowball is an Anusara-Inspired yoga teacher and certified Vinyasa teacher. She training initially with Ganga White and Tracy Rich of the White Lotus Foudation and is currently on the path to Anusara Yoga Certification. She has completed over 300 hours of Anusara yoga study, including an immersion with Kenny Graham, Teacher Training Level 1 with Stacey Rosenberg, and Teacher Training Level II with John Friend. She will continue studying with John Friend, the creator of Anusara Yoga until her certification is complete.

Cora Wen
Cora teaches Iyengar Yoga.
Cora Wen has been teaching yoga workshops and retreats internationally since 1996, and has been a dedicated student of Mahayana Buddhism for over 30 years. She has assisted Judith Hanson Lasater since 1998, and apprenticed with Erich Schiffmann and Rodney Yee through the 1990s. Cora blends the Iyengar method to bring attention to the subtle pranic body with a flowing practice to enliven the physical body.
This combination of physical and pranic practice creates a fun blend of joyful awareness. She never takes herself too seriously and adds a playful, yet dedicated devotion in her teaching. Sarah Willhalm
Sarah completed her masters in occupational therapy this summer (2007). Sarah is now combining her love of yoga and her life long interest in working with children to teach Kids Yoga.
In graduate school, Sarah apprenticed in a pediatric unit at Stanford Hospital, using simple yoga sequences with children with motor impairments, and with various other challenges. Sarah began to see fabulous results in the children’s motor skills, flexibility, focus and most importantly in their ability to relax.
In August 2006, Sarah complete the teacher training course at It’s Yoga Kids, San Francisco, CA. Sarah loves to share her knowledge, experience, and enthusiasm for yoga with the children. She is a wonderful teacher for kids !

Annika Williams
Annika teaches a strong and mindful vinyasa. Her style of yoga is a creative fusion of Vinyasa Flow, traditional Hatha, Iyengar, Ashtanga, and Anusara Inspiration. Her attention to alignment helps students to rapidly build their strength, endurance, and flexibility.
Annika is a Registered Yoga Teacher through Yoga Alliance and is a graduate of the 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training Program at Avalon Yoga. Annika assisted and studied asana, pranayama, chanting, and the Yoga Sutras in an apprenticeship with Ben Thomas. She also studies Asana, Philosophy, Sanskrit, the Yoga Sutras, Meditation, and Pranayama with Anirudh Shastri.
Annika teaches both public class and private clients.

Janya Wongsopa
Janya teaches Restorative Yoga and Vinyasa
She received her formal yoga training from Avalon Yoga under the mentorship of John Berg. Janya also received the Clinical Ayurvedic Specialist degree from California College of Ayurveda and American Institute of Vedic Studies as the class valedictorian. She has completed 200 hours certification course in yogic meditation and vedanta philosophy at Sivananda Ashram, Grass Valley. She also completed a 50 hours certification course in Somatic Psychology from the Santa Barbara Graduate Institute.
She has studied yoga with Scott Blossom, Judith Lasater and Sarah Powers as well as several gifted teachers in the bay area.
Janya’s teaching emphasizes body and breath awareness. She weaves spiritual teaching of yoga in to her classes while keeping participants constantly tuned in to the body. This allows participants to connect with all aspect of themselves and gain physical, emotional and mental health. Her teaching is gentle yet challenging. With sincere guidance and support she urges her students to take an active role in creating optimum practice for themselves.
