Tom Abrehamson
Tom teaches an Iyengar style of Yoga.
Tom is a certified yoga teacher with a BA from Princeton and a JD law degree who has studied yoga since the late 1970s. He has taught over 4700 classes in the mid-peninsula area since 2000 and has taken hundreds of hours of teacher training with, among others, Manouso Manos, Aadil Palkhivala and Elise Miller.
Tom's classes are mixed-level classes that afford both beginners and more advanced students the opportunity to work at their own levels. His classes combine precise instruction with individualized attention and gentle humor. His students work hard, make progress and have fun.
Tom has taught at Yoga of Los Altos since its inception having had 25,000+ students in his classes over the last 7 years. Tom includes Pranayama in his classes on a regular basis.

Linda Adleson
Linda discovered yoga ten years ago and from that very first class remains passionate and dedicated. She became a Registered Yoga Teacher in 2006 under the mentorship of Samantha Shakti Brown.
Continually drawn to teaching children she became certified as a YogaKids Associate and is now coming to the end of the year long Advanced Training Program.
Linda is licensed as a Certified YogaKids Facilitator. This methodology created by Marsha Wenig of YogaKids videos and books blends traditional yoga and its benefits with new theories of multiple learning styles educating the whole child. Through asana, stories and games the children explore ecology, animals, earth care and life lessons that echo the yogic principles of interdependence, oneness and FUN.

Lauren Anas
Lauren has been practicing yoga for 8 years. Prior to practicing yoga, she studied ballet for 10 years and then found yoga to be a beautiful compliment. With an emphasis on breath and fluid movement Lauren’s yoga classes involve a combination of sun salutations, strengthening postures, and balancing poses. Lauren’s classes are designed to bring a sense of peace.

Samantha Shakti Brown
Samantha Shakti Brown is a Certified Anusara Yoga instructor who is highly regarded for her depth of yogic knowledge and rich storytelling. Students leave Sam's classes with a tangible sense of joyful empowerment that they can easily be taken back out into the world. Sam's classes are both physically challenging and therapeutic with deep spiritual insight that awakens students on all levels. Samantha has been a student of yoga for 22 years and has been teaching for 16 years. In 2001 Sam was introduced to Anusara Yoga and has since become a dedicated student of John Friend (Anusara Yoga’s founder) and has traveled to study with him extensively. She is also a certified ERYT 500 Yoga Alliance teacher/teacher trainer and a certified AcroYoga teacher.

Andi Bruno
Andi thought it was high time for a yoga studio in Los Altos, so in August of 2003 she started Yoga of Los Altos.
Andi has been practicing yoga for more than 15 years, and started teaching yoga in 2000. She has also had a meditation practice for the last 20 years.
Andi teaches an eclectic style of yoga influenced her many wonderful teachers including Laura Foley, Sarah Powers, Paul Grilley, Jim & Ruthie Bernaert, and Ken Graham.
Andi obtained her first teaching certification in Yin Yoga from Sarah Powers and Paul Grilley in 2000. She also completed a 200-hour advanced Anusara teacher training course at the Yoga Kula in Berkeley in 2004. Andi competed another 200-hour teacher training with Ken Graham in early 2009. Andi also completed Advanced Teacher Training with Noah Maze and Darren Rhodes in September 2009.
Andi brings clear and precise instruction to each yoga pose. She also brings a fun tone into each and every class. Andi truly believes that yoga is to be enjoyed !

Daniella Cotreau
Daniella's first foundational teacher training was in the 8 Limbs Ashtanga tradition taught by Baba Hari Dass at the Mount Madonna Center in Northern California. She has completed 3 Anusara Immersion Trainings and a teacher training in the Anusara yoga tradition with Sianna Sherman and Noah Maze in Berkeley.
Some of her most influential teachers include Anusara founder John Friend, Douglas Brooks, Sally Kempton,Carlos Pomeda, Chris (Hareesh) Wallis, Christopher Tompkins, Desiree Rumbaugh, Ken Graham and Samantha-Shakti Brown.
Daniella's greatest teacher has been her own heart. It was her heart that lead her to the path of yoga.

Darcy Elman
Darcy teaches an Anusara style of yoga.
Darcy recently moved here from Sonoma County. She has trained in Anusara Yoga with Sianna Sherman, Douglas Brooks, Noah Maze, and Carlos Pomeda at the Yoga Kula in Berkeley. For the past 25 years she has also been in private practice teaching The Alexander Technique, and Cranial Sacral Therapy. Darcy is also certified in Pilates. She has recently been awarded and honored as a senior teacher of the national Alexander organization AMSAT. She is published in Ground Works, Stories of Embodiment. Darcy now lives with her son and her new husband in Sunnyvale.

Carolyn Fox
Carolyn has been practicing yoga regularly since 1996 and teaching since 2000. She completed teacher certifications at White Lotus Foundation in Santa Barbara and with Todd Norian in East
Stockbridge, MA and is a registered yoga instructor (200 hour level). Her teaching combines alignment principles with the breath and mindful conscious movement in a vinyasa flow.
In the summer of 2010 Carolyn completed a Yoga Tune-Up® teacher training with Jill Miller.
Carolyn's professional work as a nurse practitioner contributes to a broad knowledge of both western and eastern concepts of wellness. She has a passion for helping students to find a practice that will nourish their physical, mental and spiritual wholeness.

Chrissy Graham
Chrissy teaches Anusara Yoga.
Chrissy is a Certified Anusara Yoga Instructor. She started to practice yoga to heal her body. Chrissy was first introduced to Anusara Yoga through a chance encounter with Emily Dubin, also a Certified Anusara Yoga Instructor.
Chrissy went on to study directly with John Friend, Anusara Yoga’s creator. She has taken all of her teacher training directly with John, and has accumulated over 350 hrs with him.
Chrissy has also studied with a number of other highly skilled Anusara teachers. In addition to her studies with John, she has studied with fabulously skilled teachers, like Sianna Sherman, whom she now assists locally, and nationally, as well as Mitchell Bleier, and Amy Ippoliti. She has also spent many hours studying in the Philosophical traditions of Rajanaka, Tantra, with Dr. Douglas Brooks.
Chrissy presently teaches all over the Bay Area. Chrissy brings a dynamic, and supportive energy to her classes that blends philosophy,yoga therapeutics, and insightful wisdom, from her own life experiences.

Ken Graham
Ken teaches Anusara Yoga
Ken is a Certified Anusara Yoga instructor. Ken was introduced to Anusara Yoga in 1999 by his sister Chrissy (who also teaches here at Yoga of Los Altos). It was Anusara Yoga's heartfelt approach and depth that inspired Kenny to teach.
Ken has completed numerous immersions, teacher trainings and workshops studying under the best teachers in the Anusara tradition. Teachers include Noah Maze, Sue Elkind, Naime Jezzeny, Siannna Sherman, Desiree Rambaugh and Anusara's founder John Friend who Kenny still studies extensively with.
Ken teaches public classes, workshops and retreats worldwide. He has toured extensively with John Friend in Europe and Central America. Ken’s passion is to help students discover their own potential and to unveil their treasures along the shores of consciousness.
Ken is considered to be one of the best Anusara instructors in the San Francisco Bay Area. His broad knowledge of Anusara yoga is offered in the spirit of playfulness and connection through the voice of the Heart!

Patti Graul
Patti teachers Iyengar Yoga.
She has practiced yoga since 1974 and has taught since 1986. Her 34 years of ballet practice give her a deep understanding of the body. Patti's classes are quiet and focus on alignment and stress reduction.

Osha Hanfling
Osha teaches Iyengar Yoga.
Osha has been teaching yoga in the Iyengar Tradition since 1984, having studied directly with the Iyengars in India. She is a very well known and respected Iyengar teacher. She currently teaches in San Francisco at the Abode of Iyengar Yoga and at Yoga of Los Altos on Thursdays at 11am.
Osha takes a personal approach with her students, meeting them at their level and inspiring them to deepen their practice. Osha sees yoga as a tool for transformation and inner freedom. She believes that through the process of the asana we harness the mind, wake the sleeping body, and begin to discover and generate awareness of our psycho-spiritual selves.

Doron Hanoch
Doron is a Certified 550 hour Yoga Teacher (RYI). He was introduced to Yoga and Meditation in 1992 while traveling and studying in the Far East for 2 years. Since then Doron has returned to India many times to deepen his spiritual and Asana Practice and has practiced under the guidance of Pattabhi Jois and his family including Sharath and Saraswati. He is fortunate to have studied with some other great Ashtanga teachers such as Richard Freeman (teacher training, Boulder, CO), Rolf and Marci, (Goa, India) Tim Miller (India), Adarsh and Heleen (Mountain View, CA), Amy Santos (New York), Gouda Hedwig (New York), and Shashadri (Mysore, India) and a Vinyasa teacher training with Mark Stephens (Santa Cruz).
Doron has a dedicated Yoga practice and has also spent much time practicing Zen meditation. Doron teaches Yoga classes and workshops at Esalen Institute in Big Sur, had the honor of teaching in Rishikesh India, Nandi Yoga - San Mateo, and Downtown Yoga Shala - San Jose,
Doron’s teachings are based on the foundation of tradition with a practical and non-dogmatic way. Movements flow from one to another in rhythm with the breath, emphasizing grace as the opening to a meditative practice. Doron is a trained chef, a certified nutrition consultant (registered with the AADP) and an artist. He uses all his skills to share a holistic experience

Katerina Kat
Katerina Kat teaches a vinyasa style of yoga with attention to alignment based on Anusara Yoga approach. She also teaches Restorative and Yin yoga.
Kat meets students where they are. She encourages her students to practice from the place of self acceptance, being present in the moment, and open to what is while being aware of where they would like to go in their practice. Kat challenges her students to discover their intelligent edge while staying compassionate to their own pace.
Kat received her yoga teacher certification from White Lotus Foundation in spring 2007 where she studied with Ganga White and Tracy Rich. She has been also studying Anusara Yoga, and has completed a six month long immersion with Kenny Graham. Kat is on her way to becoming Anusara-Inspired.

Vicki Martin
Vicki has been studying meditation for almost 20 years with a background in the Buddhist Mindfulness approach. She also has a beautiful yoga practice.
Vicki has meditating daily since 2004. She recently completed Meditation Teacher Training (levels 1 & 2) at the Muru Seminary, at the Center for Spiritual Enlightenment.

Birgit Reimer
Birgit Reimer teaches the Iyengar Yoga style in the direct lineage of her deeply respected mentor Yogacharya Benjamin A. Thomas, a master teacher in this tradition. She is personally certified by him to teach intermediate asanas and pranayama techniques of level I-III and has completed his Advanced Teacher Training Program with more than 2000 hours of personal training over the last 7 years. She continuously travels to India to study with the Iyengar family.
Offering private and many public classes, a monthly pranayama class at Yoga of Los Altos, workshops in the Bay Area and nationally; since 2008 she plays a key role in a teacher training program where she teaches asanas and pranayama techniques of level I and II. Deep roots in Soto Zen meditation, Shotokan karate and energy work for more than 30 years contribute to well-balanced yoga classes. Her classes are composed of yogasana practice, pranayama, meditation, chanting and philosophy and you have the rare opportunity to learn the Yoga Sutras of Sri Patanjali which are the heart of yoga. She encourages the students to create balance/equilibrium through alignment and precision, moving with the rhythm of the breath and keeping heart and mind open, humble and free.

Anirudh Shastri
Shastri teaches a Dynamic Vinyasa Flow
Anirudh Shastri is a well-known and highly respected hatha yoga teacher with an extensive background in yoga philosophy. He has been teaching yoga for more than 20 years, bringing his deep knowledge of the physical and spiritual aspects of yogic philosophy to his many students on the peninsula and in the South Bay.
Shastri trained in India and studied under the guidance of Shri Vishnu Prasadji.

Rebecca Snowball
Rebecca is an Anusara Inspired Instructor.
Rebecca Snowball is an Anusara-Inspired yoga teacher and certified Vinyasa teacher. She training initially with Ganga White and Tracy Rich of the White Lotus Foudation and is currently on the path to Anusara Yoga Certification. She has completed over 300 hours of Anusara yoga study, including an immersion with Kenny Graham, Teacher Training Level 1 with Stacey Rosenberg, Teacher Training Level II and then a Teachers Intensive with John Friend. She will continue studying with John Friend, the creator of Anusara Yoga until her certification is complete.

Ben Thomas
Ben teaches Iyengar/Thomas Yoga.
Ben has been practicing yoga since 1976 and has been teaching Iyengar yoga for more than 30 years. In 1983, he was certified by Yogacharya, Dr. B.K.S. Iyengar of the Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Yoga Institute (RIMYI). Ben has studied with B.K.S. Iyengar, his daughter, Dr. Geeta Iyengar, and his son, Prashant Iyengar, on many occasions both in the U.S. and in Pune, India.
Ben and his wife Tommijean retired to Tucson, Arizona. Ben is returning back to the Bay Area in the Fall of 2010 for a brief visit. We welcome Ben back to Yoga of Los Altos !

Janya Wongsopa
Janya teaches Restorative Yoga and Vinyasa
She received her formal yoga training from Avalon Yoga under the mentorship of John Berg. Janya also received the Clinical Ayurvedic Specialist degree from California College of Ayurveda and American Institute of Vedic Studies as the class valedictorian. She has completed 200 hours certification course in yogic meditation and vedanta philosophy at Sivananda Ashram, Grass Valley. She also completed a 50 hours certification course in Somatic Psychology from the Santa Barbara Graduate Institute.
She has studied yoga with Scott Blossom, Judith Lasater and Sarah Powers as well as several gifted teachers in the bay area.
Janya’s teaching emphasizes body and breath awareness. She weaves spiritual teaching of yoga in to her classes while keeping participants constantly tuned in to the body. This allows participants to connect with all aspect of themselves and gain physical, emotional and mental health. Her teaching is gentle yet challenging. With sincere guidance and support she urges her students to take an active role in creating optimum practice for themselves.

Aska Yoshizu
Aska Yoshizu is an Anusara Inspired Instructor and a registered yoga teacher with Yoga Alliance. She is also a certified massage therapist.
Through her own transformation, she has come to realize that yoga, meditation, and massage are powerful tools to allow us to re-connect with our own self-healing ability.
Among various styles of yoga she practices, Aska especially loves Anusara because its life affirming philosophy and its therapeutic approach deeply resonate with her belief in the healing ability within ourselves.
